I really liked this picture for its simplicity. Although it's a bit fuzzy I think that it adds to the effect.

Matisse: Drawing with Scissors

I have always really liked the work of Matisse, after coming across his work during my A-Level course. During this time I got to see his work in the Tate Modern in London. I have always like the simplicity and the bright colours of his work.
‘The paper cut-out allows me to draw in the colour .... Instead of drawing the outline and putting the colour inside it ... I draw straight into the colour’ I really like Matisse's thinking behind this quote.
This image really made me think about the colours that I was using in my work.

Colour.....
I just liked how the colours mixed together in the paint pot so decided to photograph it.
Firstly I added water to the paint to maker it easier to flick and this was the outcome. Although I like it I found the paint not not to be a rich as before adding water.
I stared to think about the background colour for my display. I decided that as my display was full of different colours that I wanted to experiment with adding colour to my background. I decided that I wanted to revisit the work of Jackson Pollock and created this work in his style.
This was really fun to do and I found that I could get many different effects easily.

Mixing everything together.....
I think this image is really successfull. I like the images when the ribbons are at the front of the image as they reflect the light. It is also possible to see through the ribbons are they are thin so it allows for the background to alsobe built up.
After experimenting with the reflections from the ribbons I started to think about the background for my display. I found that adding a reflective surface such as tin foil really added another dimension to the work and the foil really bounced light throughout the knitted pieces.
I like the angle that I took this picture on. I think that I am going to experiment further with photographing my work from this angle.
This is just a really simple image that I liked. Here I began to experiment with composition. I initially wanted to put my work in diagonal lines, however I liked that when I was experimenting I spointaniously placed them.
